I'm doing laundry today

Keeping my hands busy

And my mind occupied

While I wait for you, love

My stories are stilled in my mind

And my mouth stays closed;

My mother knows something is up

While I wait for you, love

I'm packing clothes and dishes

Into boxes and bags

My material life unimportant next to

Waiting for you, love

I keep myself busy

Making lists and setting goals

Preparing to move

While I wait for you, love

This wasn't the best time to tell you,

I suspect, but it was the right time

for me as I look at ahead at this next fall,

Waiting for your answer, love

Oh! I am just waiting for

the laundry to be done,
